A king ordered that this place be built in 1070 AD along with a National University. Sons of the elite and the
best students of the common people studied here. Statues of Confucius and his 4 closest disciples are here and our understanding
is that they taught here as well. Many parts of the grounds and temples have been reconstructed due to war, but some
things still remain.

You walk through 5 gates that lead to 5 grounds that eventually lead to a shrine in the back. |

82 stone slabs sit on these turtles and are enscribed with the names and birthplaces of graduates. |

They were erected between 1484-1780 A.D. and have 1300 graduate names on them from those years. |

Every entryway is at least 6 inches off the ground. |
